In today’s report, I am revealing the details of a major decision taken by the Jammu and Kashmir Government, which has signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jammu & Kashmir Bank to provide banking, credit, and insurance facilities to daily-rated workers, contractual employees, and casual staff working across various government departments in Jammu and Kashmir.

The initiative aims to improve financial inclusion and social security for thousands of workers through zero-balance bank accounts, free debit cards, digital banking access, concessional remittance services, and specially designed credit facilities. The scheme also includes a Rs 5 lakh group personal accident insurance cover, along with disability-related benefits for eligible employees.

Senior officials, including Atal Dulloo and Amitava Chatterjee, said that the initiative will strengthen the economic security and welfare of contractual and casual workers across the Union Territory.
