RMC BFM Group Selects Grass Valley to Power its Transition to IP and UHD Production

MONTREAL, CANADA – October 15, 2025 – Grass Valley today announced that RMC BFM, part of the CMA-CGM Group and France’s third-largest private media group, has chosen Grass Valley’s production switcher and multiviewer solutions to drive its move from SDI/HD to SMPTE ST 2110 IP and UHD workflows. The project marks a key milestone in the modernization of RMC BFM’s production capabilities and positions the group at the forefront of UHD live production in France.

The deployment, scheduled to go on air in early January 2026, involves a full renewal of one of RMC BFM’s main production galleries. At the heart of the new infrastructure is the Grass Valley K-Frame SXP production switcher (192×92 full 2110/full UHD), paired with a 3-stripe Kayenne control surface and a 1-stripe Kayenne satellite panel. The system is complemented by seven Kaleido-IP X440 2110 multiviewers, enabling seamless UHD monitoring in an IP environment.

Moving from the legacy Kahuna and Kaleido-X systems to Grass Valley’s latest-generation K-Frame XP and Kaleido-IP solutions was a natural step for RMC BFM, a longtime Grass Valley customer.

“We needed to transition to UHD without compromise on performance or capacity,” said David Grimal, Broadcast CTO at RMC BFM. “The move to IP, based on a Cisco backbone, brought new challenges, but Grass Valley’s solutions gave us confidence to manage this shift effectively. Kaleido-IP was a logical step forward for us.”

“Shifting from Kahuna to K-Frame XP is not just a technical upgrade, but also a change in mindset and production capabilities,” added Quentin Berthet, Broadcast Infrastructure Manager at RMC BFM. “Grass Valley has been a trusted partner throughout this transition, ensuring interoperability and providing the tools we need to deliver UHD content with reliability and flexibility.”

“RMC BFM’s move to IP and UHD is a landmark project for the French market,” said Carlos Ferreira, Vice President of Sales, South and Central Europe at Grass Valley. “We’re proud to support their journey with solutions that not only meet today’s requirements but also provide a scalable foundation for future upgrades. This collaboration reinforces Grass Valley’s role as a trusted partner for customers evolving their production facilities.”

For Grass Valley, the project is strategic: it is among the first transitions in France from Kahuna to K-Frame XP, following other noticeable wins across Europe paving the way for other media groups to follow. Future upgrades of additional RMC BFM galleries are under consideration.

Grass Valley will be exhibiting at SATIS in Paris on November 5 & 6 on booth A5.
